Acton Community Center
3748 West Nickels Ave., Acton, CA 93510
In 1950, the Palmdale Rotary deeded the land now known as the Acton Community Club to Boy Scout Troop #145 in Acton. Since scout troops cannot own land, the Acton Community Club, Inc. was formed in 1955 to take title of the property.
There was one small building on the 2.5 acres, which is now the kitchen. From 1979 to 1988, a larger building was built by the community, with donations of money, time and labor. Later, outdoor amenities including landscaping was added.
The arena located on the same site, was constructed and is maintained by the Acton Rangers.
One of the stipulations in the Club's charter is that the building and premises needs to be available to all youth groups in the community free of charge. This has always been the case
The Acton Community Club, Inc. sponsors and promotes many events throughout the year. In addition, the clubhouse is the setting for a variety of events such as:
· Memorial services,
· Community and organization meetings and more
Board meetings are held the fourth Wednesday of each month at the Acton Community Center, 7:00 p.m., and the meetings are open to the public.
